THE JUNGLE BOOK EXPERIENCE

Summer camp afternoons:

MUSIC, MOVEMENT, AND ART WORKSHOP

Explore musical theater and the arts with Aunty’s Music School this summer!

Located in HPP, summer camps are designed for students ages 5-14. With a team of specialized arts instructors, students will receive individualized small-group instruction. Sibling discount of 15% off with code SIBLING. Students enrolled in both morning and afternoon sessions can stay onsite for our daily lunch break.

Jungle Book Week One: June 10-14, 9 am - 12 pm. Students ages 5-12 will join for highly engaging instruction in dance, voice, theatrical performance, and set design. We will dive into the music and story of The Jungle Book as we prepare to showcase several songs through singing and choreographed dancing. Our performance showcase will take place @ 11:30 am on Friday, June 14. Students enrolled for this week of camp are welcome to join Jungle Book week two! $195/5 days

Jungle Book Week Two: June 17-21, 9 am - 12 pm. Students ages 7-14 will prepare a performance showcase of the Jungle Book with acting, singing, choreographed dancing, and costumes. Our musical theater presentation of the Jungle Book will take place @ 11:30 am on Friday, June 21. Students are welcome to also enroll for Jungle Book week one to help prepare for this week of musical theater production. $195/5 days

Music Movement and Art Workshops: June 10-13 AND/OR June 17-20, 1 pm - 4 pm. For ages 5-12, students will have fun while building artistic skills. With a team of specialized instructors, students will receive personalized, small-group lessons in creative movement, fine arts, ukulele, and general music. $165/4 days

Meet our team of instructors!

Melissa Sigh: Music Instructor and Producer

With twenty-six years of teaching experience, Melissa fosters student growth and joy through music-making, personal connection, and insightful support. Melissa is a creative and engaging music educator with experience in diverse music education settings. At Aunty’s Music School, Melissa is thrilled to open her doors to new students seeking private and small group music lessons. She is also the music teacher at Malamalama Waldorf School.

Melissa holds a master’s degree in music education from Michigan State University. She has served as a music teacher in Michigan’s public schools for sixteen years and taught private lessons for 26 years.

Melissa’s primary instrument is voice. She specializes in individual vocal coaching and group singing instruction. She began music directing while still in high school and has continued to provide musical directing for several full stage musicals during her teaching career.

Debra McGee: Choreographer and Dance Instructor

Debra has dedicated her career to teaching dance around the Island of Hawai’i since moving here in 2011.  Debra is a former member of Garth Fagan Dance, the original Tony award winning choreographer of the Lion King, and performed his works nationally and internationally. In her birthplace of MN she worked with TU Dance, performed in multiple musicals and was as a teaching artist in numerous universities, colleges and performing arts conservatories. 

She holds Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from Marymount Manhattan College in N.Y.C. and trained vocally at the Eastman School of Music in NY.

In Hawai’i she has taught, directed and choreographed at Kona Dance, Danse Space in Hawi, Donkey Mill’s Summer Programs, and the Hawai’i Performing Arts Festival where she was awarded best regional choreographer for her work with Hair.  She is a member of Lava Roots Dance Company and Prince Dance Company on island.  Debra is the movement specialist at Malamalama Waldorf School and is a teaching artist with Hawai’i State Foundation on Culture and Arts.  Debra is a passionate teacher, choreographer and performer who shares the power of communication through movement.

Noa Richard: Fine Arts instructor and Acting Coach

Noa is a teacher and outdoor educator living on Big Island since 2022. She brings a decade of experience working with children of all ages in public schools, forest schools, wilderness summer camps, Malamalama Waldorf School and currently at HAAS. Her joy comes from bridging the world of education, creative expression and the natural environment.

Noa grew up participating in multiple theater productions such as Alice in Wonderland, Mulan and Fiddler on the Roof. She continued into filmmaking as a director and writer for short form documentary and narrative pieces. She holds a bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the California Institute of Integral Studies.

Bringing storytelling to life is one of her passions and she’s excited to join this upcoming summer break production and arts workshops.
